Submissions for 2019 are now open here.
‘Off Centre’ Photo Festival was held across Nottingham between 27 October and 11 November 2018. It was Nottingham’s first independent photo festival. The aim of the festival was to promote and encourage creative photography from across the East Midlands. Nottingham(shire) has a rich photographic heritage, an abundance of talented local photographers and this festival will showcase the work of local photographers, or made locally.
We aimed to exhibit work from a diverse range of the local photography community, from established editorial photographers to local youngsters who have never exhibited work before. We were mostly successful.
During the Festival we exhibited work across 10 different venues, showcasing work by over 130 different photographers from a range of different backgrounds, photography genres and exploring a broad range of different themes. The festival also engaged with other local events such as Mental Health Awareness week, and Black History month. The outcome of this work continues with a mental health group (Scrambles) meeting on the first Monday of each month, and The Sisterhood Creative, a support network for women photographers meeting the last Friday of each month.
The Festival had a range of local sponsors and supporters, including Real Creative Futures and Big House, local galleries, and local charities.
